M2 + funded PhD – from nanoscale friction to macroscopic rheology

We have an offer for an M2 internship at ESPCI followed by a funded PhD thesis (Cifre fellowship in collaboration with Saint-Gobain).
The project aims at understanding the origin of the cohesive and frictional interactions between solid particles immersed in aqueous electrolyte solutions at the nanometric scale, with the aim to rationalize the peculiar rheological properties of cementitious-like suspensions at the macroscopic scale.
Please do not hesitate to forward this offer to any good candidates who would like to explore the physics of nanoscale friction using advanced Atomic Force Microscopy tools and its relation with macroscopic material properties.
