La prochaine conférence de la Condensed Matter Division (CMD) de l’EPS
(European Physical Society) aura lieu du 4 au 8 Septembre 2023, à Milan

Journées de la Matière Condensée de la Société Française de Physique,
que nombre d’entre vous peuvent connaitre, cette conférence comprendra
des conférences invitées plénières et semi-plénières, et des nombreux
minicolloquia, dont plusieurs en lien avec la matière molle.

La section « Soft Matter and Biophysics » de la CMD organise un
minicolloque intitulé « Soft Matter and Environmental Challenges ». (voir
https://eventi.cnism.it/cmd30-fismat/minicolloquia pour une description
des minicolloquia). Nous vous encourageons à soumettre une proposition
pour ce minicolloquium, que nous espérons être très large thématiquement.

La date limite de soumission des abstracts est fixée au 15 Avril.

Pour célébrer le Prix Otto Laporte 2022 d’Elisabeth Charlaix de la division de dynamique des fluides de l’APS, la communauté de la mécanique des fluides grenobloise, de concert avec la Fédération Galileo Galilei Grenoble (Fed3G) organisent une journée scientifique intitulée « Mécanique des fluides et complexité ». Cette journée vise à illustrer la complexité et la richesse des thématiques actuelles en mécanique des fluides portées à l’échelle nationale et par les laboratoires Grenoblois.

Cette année, les Journées des Jeunes Rhéologues (JJR) se tiendront à Peyresq du 30 mai au 3 juin. Peyresq est un petit village des Alpes de Haute Provence, perdu dans la montagne. Les congressistes seront attendus à Nice d’où un bus partira pour les amener sur le lieu du congrès.

Les jeunes rhéologues sont invités à présenter leurs travaux par des communications orales de 15 minutes environ. Ils auront également la possibilité de suivre des cours/conférences donnés par des chercheurs plus confirmés qui ont eu des contributions importantes en rhéologie. Ainsi, nous aurons le plaisir d’accueillir Annie Viallat, Sandra Lerouge, Arnaud Poulesquen, René Fulchiron, Jean-Charles Majesté, Guillaume Ovarlez et Bloen Metzger.

We are pleased to organize a Thematic Summer School named Freezing & Interfaces which will take place in Cargèse, Corsica, France, on May 1-5, 2023.
The objective of this school is to present the fundamentals, the latest theoretical advances and experimental activities in the field of ice formation in capillary systems (drop, film, foam, porous media) and heterogeneous mixtures (solution, suspension, emulsion, granular).

The list of lectures and speakers is as follows:
– Freezing of solutions and formation of sea ice, with Grae Worster, DAMTP, Cambridge (4h)
– Freezing of suspensions and emulsions, with Sylvain Deville, Institut Lumière Matière, Lyon (4h)
– Freezing of soil and geomorphology, with Alan Rempel, University of Oregon (4h)
– Surface of ice and ice wetting, with Daniel Bonn, Institute of Physics, University of Amsterdam (4h)
– Formation of snow crystals, with Kenneth Libbrecht, Caltech (4h)

Participants will have the opportunity to present their work during two poster sessions.

The deadline of the European Young Rheologists Symposium – EYRS 2023 is approaching soon (January 23rd)! It is an online meeting organized by the European Society of Rheology (ESR) together with the Italian Society of Rheology (SIR).

EYRS is addressed to Senior graduates, PhD students, Post-doc researchers (max 2 years after PhD). The aim of EYRS is to give to young European researchers the possibility of presenting and discussing their work on rheology into an auditorium of young colleagues, chaired by more expert scientists.
The event will be on May 8th – 9th 2023 online on Microsoft Teams.

The deadline for abstract submission for the International Congress of Rheology (ICR2023) is January 10, 2023.

The ICR will take place in Athens, Greece from July 29 – August 4, 2023. The ICR will include the presentation of the Weissenberg Award.

The meeting features plenaries, 15 technical sessions, sponsorship and exhibition opportunities, short courses, the award session, and a social program.
